I was going over my Jefferson War Nickels and all three mints from 1944 have the same doubling in LIBERTY in the loops of "B" and "R". Perhaps from the same master obverse die? ANd I also realized a strange reverse feature on the pillars of the Monticello on this particular 1944-S. The distortion on the right hand side is NOT the camera or my shaky hands, it is actually on the nickel, possibly a die crack.

Success,

Unfortunately this die doubling is very common on the early Jefferson nickels.

The reverse of the coin appears to have some damage, possibly caused by the die clashing.

I believe this is the norm for the issue - that all examples have master die doubling that affects different lettering on the obverse in differing strengths and directions. If you have other coins of the same issue it would be a good idea to check all of them for the same doubling. If it's on the remainder of them, then I'm correct. If it's not on the remainder of them you may have something here.
