I see no hub doubling.Unless it is strong doubling, it's tough to tell on a well circulated coin, like yours. In your closeups, I can tell that this is a later die stage. A late die stage, combined with a well circulated coin, can sometimes make it look like there may be thickness, that is probably what you are seeing. I've marked up your reverse pic, so you can see where to look for more common pick up points, with this type of doubling. In addition to the areas I have pointed out, EPU is also a common area to see it.

I don't think Bent is talking about the actual stem feature, he's referring to the head and kernels of the stalk. I can see a duplicate image of the kernels on the Left stalk.

If you are talking about the areas around where the wheat leaf and stalk meet, it looks like extreme Die Deterioration, which could create a doubling of sorts. Just a worn out die, in my opinion.

Deeper die polishing. Note the 'UN' and 'OF' field areas. There is die disturbance of altering the fields on that area. If it were a hub issue, all the other devices would also be affected. They are not. So that area was altered during die polishing to rescue this die to be continued to be used. Note the shape of the 'U' is distorted. So it was altered on the die. Why? Not a clue. Too low dor Feeder Finger Damage. Maybe a large die gouge from another die damaging that area on this die.

I'd call it just a combination of staining, a wore out die.
