Do you have an example? Don't forget sellers can ask what they want, it is up to the buyer to do their homework.

J&M... say no more. Often overpriced and sometimes unbelievably low. He (Joe) only wanted $15 on a beautiful 5 cent 1953 MS grade off center strike but he wanted $200 for a 1 cent mid 60's minor lamination error!!

J&M does have a store on Kingsway if you're familiar with Vancouver, liked the old store way better.

I think that they misplaced the decimal point .... maybe $12.50? Why would they be so high, as 200 million were minted?

$90 is a lot.
But cent roll supply is drying up.
Certain dates (including 1985 - 1991) are very elusive in PCGS top grades. ICCS coins do not cross well in these dates.
Lets say a 1990 cent in PCGS MS67 is worth $500--if you could ever get one. In that context, buying 10 rolls of raw cents for $250 can make lots of sense (cents!).

So as a follow up to this, I just received a set of rolls from the early 1990s that I picked up for around $20 each.
I cracked one open to start and I am pretty certain I have snagged a PCGS-level 1991 MS67. I probably have a couple to send to ICCS also that should grade MS66/MS67. I am delighted with that roll buy! It was cheaper than free as far as I am concerned.

Your hard work just might pay off for you. Were there many moisture stained coins?

The first one was pretty much free of spotting. It had maybe 4 or 5 coins with black grease on the edge of the coins. The black grease stained rolls are fairly common in that era for some reason. I have not opened the others yet but they look very clean.

So all the rolls done. I have 5 coins for PCGS and about 5 for ICCS. Single digit percentage hit rate, which is about par for the course. 100% of rolls were problem free (i.e., no carbon spots), but as usual for the era lots of baggy MS62-type coins. One roll with that kind of water spot look.

Very impressive finds and share your results when you get them back. You might need the Armored Brinks Guard to get them home from the post office.
