Post mint damage possibly. Nothing worth a premium.

If you want to catch a rainbow trout, you need to know what a rainbow trout is.
If you want to find an error coin, you have to know what an actual mint error is.

Most odd looking things on coins are just post mint damage ( PMD)

Save Yourself time, effort, and disappointment...don't learn the coin hobby backwards.

Looking for random anomalies on coins and hoping they match up to something collectable will take you a lot more time, wasted effort, and disappointment repeatedly finding out you have nothing but post mint damage or useless Machine Doubling, Die Deterioration, etc.

Spend some initial time at places like error-ref.com, doubleddie.com, varietyvista.com, conecaonline.org, coppercoins.com etc. to find what actual and collectable coin errors look like.

A good way to start is, for instance, separate a bunch of pennies by date. Go to varietyvista.com and, date by date, use the reference there to see what errors are known for that specific coin/mint mark. Look for those specific errors/varieties using the pictures provided. After doing this for awhile you will KNOW what an actual error looks like and not have to waste time on face value and damaged coins.

How do I put this nicely (I am not new to coin collecting and error coins).
I thought this one was odd.
Did not ask if it was worth anything.
This was my post(Does not look like damage but may very well be) if it is post damage so be it.
If you don't want to see oddity's then I wont post them here.

@oldtimmer I definitely see what jumped out at you I'm finding the same thing but on the Edith Kanaka Ole quarters. I found a few all similar. It looks raised to me I'm not sure what is going on.I was thinking like john1 maybe an early stage die chip.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think it's a pre Die Chip depression, on the nose. Probably an early stage die chip.

I'm thinking that the Bessie Coleman quarter is showing a small strike through. The shape and features seem to be too smooth to be a die chip or die crack. I have several coins that had material that was deposited on the die, at the time of the strike, around the portrait leaving a strike through in the field..

If this were my coin I would put it in a 2X2 and save it. It'll only cost you 25 cents and that's a small price to pay.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I think its great to share oddities. Most of us coin hunters will never find the big ticket errors, but knowing you've found something unique, even if its not worth a lot $, is what makes the search interesting. And sharing those finds only increases our knowledge of what to look for.
