The larger the coin, the more often
Machine Doubling is found on a coin. This is a post striking issue from a loose machine. A striking event, not a doubled die. Doubled dies are only created on dies with hub doubling.
Machine Doubling can alter normal and doubled dies post strike. But your coin is just a normal coin with
Machine Doubling.

Note the
Machine Doubling reduces the size of the devices. On a doubled die, these devices would be enlarged.
This one is a JFK half Dollar
DDO compared to a normal coin:

Note the spread enlarges the centers of the devices?
Machine Doubling removes the contour on the outside edges of the devices. One is caused by the machine the other is created on the die on each strike of this doubled die. What to do? Stopping looking at the outside edges of the devices and note the centers of the devices. Look for the spread of the devices. Try looking at attributed dies on the sites of doubled dies, then your eyes will learn what to look for, rather than looking blindly and see what you can find. Doing this, is like having a map and decide, I'm going to go this way. What happens, you don't reach your destination. Check to see first, train the eyes, and then you will know what to look for.
