Large-Mexican-Medal-Is-It-Silver?-Catalogue-Reference?

This large Mexican medal has a diameter of 61 millimeters and weighs 77.9 grams.

The question is whether it is silver or just silver plated. The edge is smooth, but the fields have a grainy look although the medal itself is well done. One of our members had a catalogue of mexican medals, but I cannot yet locate anything on the internet.

Neither I nor the owner bought this as silver, in case anyone is wondering.

I do have an image of this medal in my archives, but no other details. It is not in Frank Grove's book of Mexican medals.

Interesting note, both medals have the same Cud on the obverse at about 11:00.

Mexico, 1960? Surely it's silver.

@coinfrog, I too thought that it was surely silver, but the sigma analyzer said otherwise, although I am aware that they can be finicky dealing with non-standard items. That ebay listing in copper with the same diameter and same Cud is even more suggestive of a plated item. I am going to try a density test if I can find a suitable container.
