Hi everyone, I have this, John Adams Presidential dollar that has two different coloured surfaces. Any help in determining if this is an error?
Thanks!

Some sort of environmental damage, not an error.

I agree, this coin probably sat with the obverse up for a long time and has been degraded somewhat, while the reverse has been protected from the environmental elements.

I don't think Presidential dollars are clad. Just environmental staining.

I hazard to politely disagree about the presidential coins being not clad, it states on the mint website that they are clad. I can also see the change in color from the manganese brass outer clad onto the pure copper core.

what has been explained to me. the mint is testing a new surface coating. its ugly that is all that can be said about this new surface coating. it makes the coins appear to be rusted so I hope they drop this stuff quickly. it first gives the coins a brass look then it slowly changes. it looks just like your coin. I have bunch of these now. good luck

you appear to be correct, The CCF coin facts pages have incorrect data on them.
