This coin was dispersed to me from a soda machine at a local library. I was excited about it before even looking it up, but even more so now that I actually have. My ignorance on errors and coins in general has left me hopeful, but still unsure whether I actually have one of the valuable error coins for this specimen or not. I am also curious as to how much these would actually be worth. I've seen some online for between 500 and all the way up to 1500 for the coins with errors. A few dollars for the ones without. I'll use bulleting to mark each question for more organized responses.
A.) Filled D - The mint mark on this coin depending on how the light hits it will look filled or partially filled (more so than not in my opinion, not sure if that counts). Would this be considered a Filled D error or does it have to be completely filled with no indentaton at all?
B.) Narrow (front) / Wide (Back) Error - I'm not even sure what the exact terminology is for this type of error, but I have seen a few postings online where this is the title that was used.
1.) What is this error called?
2.) Does the near or wide have to be on a specific side or is it simply they have to be spaced differently and which side has which is not important?
3.) Does this coin in fact have this error? I see obvious difference in distance on one side from the other, but to what extent is required? Does my coin in fact meet the requirements and can be labeled as a coin with this error?
C.) How much is this beauty worth? Please tell me alot. I could use a little extra money right about now.
