One is a counterfeit the other is correct. Well... maybe both are counterfeit, the one without the descender is fake, all bullion have the descender after 2009.
But the one with the descender also looks fake. Can you confirm that they are silver?

the left one is a fake - different font and smaller. The easiest letter to notice this on is the 'U' of 'United'

If you look at U in United , the font was changed 2007, after 2009 the u has a drop (descender). If it doesn't it's a fake ASE. It's one of the characteristics of fake ASE. There are a few 2008 with descender and without. Edited by hfjacinto

This is a screenshot from a single ebay ad. Iv seen the U's with decenders on 2012 13 14 and 15s. I'm still unclear. |

Yes you just answered your own question. After 2009 the u's all have descenders, one of the 2012 above doesn't have a descender so it's fake. Heck the one with the descender also looks fake but that could be bad photo. Note: in 2008 a few ASE were released without the descender. These are known errors and have a premium. The 2008 with 2007 reverse are the ones without the descender. Edited by hfjacinto

my 2018 has one, but my 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 do not. don`t have a 2019 so when did it change back to no descender?

With the release of the 2021. The new style doesn't have a descender. I checked my 2020 and they have descenders I also checked the book. Make sure your 2020 has one or it maybe counterfeit also.

First place I've ever seen the change to the U as a descender. I can't remember what it's usually called at the moment. This is an extremely confusing conversation. The 2008 rev of 2007 was a Uncirculated, what most people call burnished. Gotcha tho, am on track now.

@dan Descender is the description in the ASE coin guide I have. From the dictionary de·scend·er /d#601;#712;send#601;r/ noun a part of a letter that extends below the level of the base of a letter such as x (as in g and p ). a letter having a descender. Serif's aren't the same, they are like lines on top or extend to the right of the letter. A descender is the correct description Edited by hfjacinto

yep, my 2020 is a fake, only weighs 26 grams, luckily I kept a log and know who I bought it from and the date, he is a good guy and told me he guarantees what he sells, will find out saturday.
