From the shadows, DC's Dark Knight™ emerges as the second release in our groundbreaking Comic Art Coin and Medal Program, which celebrates comic book art as a uniquely American art form. Batman is newly etched in a proof finished 24-karat gold coin, fine silver medals, and later in a clad medal that depicts the iconic Super Hero ready to fight crime in Gotham City™. These stunning products display Batman's steadfast courage and his never-ending crusade for justice.

The obverse (heads) design depicts Batman leaping into action to protect those in need. A decorative eagle, carved in stone, perches atop a Gotham City building behind him. The inscriptions are "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2025" (24-karat gold coin); "LIBERTY" and "2025" (2.5-ounce silver medal); and "LIBERTY" (one-ounce silver medal). Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed and sculpted the obverse.

The reverse (tails) design features Batman against the background of Gotham City while the Bat-Signal shines brightly above. The inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "$50," "1/2 OZ," and ".9999 FINE GOLD" (24-karat gold coin); "BATMAN" and "JUSTICE AND COURAGE" (2.5-ounce silver medal); and "BATMAN" and "JUSTICE AND COURAGE" (one-ounce silver medal). Mint Medallic Artist John P. Mcgraw designed the reverse, which was sculpted by Mint Chief Engraver Menna.

To complement these stunning designs, each 24-karat gold coin and silver medal is encapsulated and packaged in a presentation case and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). The 24-karat gold coin and the 2.5-ounce silver medal will each have a numbered COA, indicating the order in which the item was minted.

A Product Subscription Program is available for the one-ounce silver medal. Subscriptions are limited to five medals per household (household limits subject to change). Sign up once, and you will receive the next product released in the series after the date of your registration, then continue to receive products until you end your subscription or until the series ends. For additional details about subscriptions, visit here.

The Mint has extended the subscription cutoff date for the Comic Art One Ounce Silver Medal depicting Superman™ through September 22, 2025, allowing the subscription window for this medal to remain open until the product is ready to ship. Customers who subscribe to the Comic Art One Ounce Silver Medal before September 22, 2025, will receive the Superman One Ounce Silver Medal when it ships, and still be in line for the Batman One Ounce Silver Medal. Customers who subscribe after September 22, 2025, will start with the Batman One Ounce Silver Medal.

While they do look good, at $135 for the 1-oz medal and $275 for the 2.5-oz medal (going by the Superman Prices), that's gonna be a hard pass for me.

I have a coin show coming up, so I might have to pass on the release hysteria and take a chance on it latter.

Still contemplating this one.

I'm not - easy decision here. As it is, I'm cutting back on mint products due to the costs...

As much as I would like to collect this series, I have to pass, the Mint has attached a price that is a bit to steep for me. I'm going to have to scale back what I would normally get from the Mint to keep up with the increases to the ASE, my main concern.
Maybe the price will drop in the Secondary Market, only time will tell!

Yeah, I also have to consider that there will be more appealing items being release next year.

A pass for me - I'm not much of a collector/buyer of "Pop Culture" on coins or medals.

As much as I like the design, not interested in the price. May keep an eye on the secondary market down the line to see if it drops. This is a "like to have", but not a "must have" item.

It would certainly have been more appealing in the US Mint Silver's less expensive days.

Gold Batman is only a sawbuck short of 3G's! If you know what a sawbuck is without looking it up......you're old.

Got in line to purchase my gold Batman coin 15 minutes ahead of release time knowing this would probably an instant sell-out {sarcasm}. Was taken to purchase area 20 seconds after 12 EDT, and filled in my information and checked all the required boxes. Was greeted with a notice that my form of payment was not approved and to try another form of payment. Knowing that there was enough money in my account I stubbornly tried again using debit card linked to my checking account. This time I was refused indicating "household limit reached." So I assume my first attempt was successful despite the message I received (I think the same thing happened to me back in July when I ordered the Superman coin. Not too worried because I'm guessing there will be fewer ordering this coin than the Superman release and there will be plenty left days afterward.
Incidentally, when I got to the payment area there was a message that said anticipated shipping date was January 26th (or was it 25th?), 2026. Hopefully gold will be $7,000 an ounce by then so I can feel good about this purchase. Holding my breath.

Going back to my Mint "Bag Summary" I see the shipping date for Batman is actually January 29, 2026.

Also, went back to Mint site at 9:15. No virtual line, so either sold-out, or light demand on the website. I wonder which......

I could swear that when Superman went on sale there were already listings on ebay for slabbed 70s with various labels from both NGC and PCGS. Today for Batman, not a single one.
