Found this nickel in the collection, wrapped in a piece of tin foil. It looked a bit strange, and realized when I flipped it the orientation is wrong. Not sure if any value since it's so beat up.

Hi Driven, I don't have any information to offer, but it does look more than just a little bit off to me too & There is most likely some info here in the forum. I'm new here and I've been jumping around different subjects and reading. If I see what you need I'll return and let you know. Have a great night #9786;#65039;

Driven, at first glance this appears to be a counterfeit. Can you provide the weight of this coin?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

If that is the coins actual color it strongly resembles a silver War Nickel. But no large MM above the dome.

Regardless - it is so damaged that the 90 degree rotation does not add any real vale to most collectors.

I would keep it until you find out more about it. It does look like war type with no mint mark, if it is then you may have something good. Regardless of condition it is good conversation piece if you do not have any more like it.

Damage on the coin should be enough to not even waste time on this coin. Just a face value coin.
