1969-D Cent Overstrike? - Coin Community Forum

ebsf New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 04/09/2023 9:20 pm This turned up the other day and I'm not certain what to make of it. 1969-D Lincoln Cent. I didn't make out any anomalies on the obverse. On the reverse, the roof is attached and the engraver's initials are present. So far, so good, but on the reverse, it looks as if two "D" mint marks have been struck, at odd angles, above the "N" in "CENT," with one of them disforming that letter. I also noticed that the base of the "O" in "ONE" is flattened uncharacteristically. One of the three photos has pointers indicating the anomalies. Any thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

The flattening of the letter O, for example, might be mechanical damage from a bubble gum machine.
