Yes, it has some damage, but it's the first one I've ever found... turned it over early this morning after seeing the 1939 on the obverse and could not believe my eyes!

Reminds me of mine I found CRH last year; there is a thread on that one somewhere here. with the above sentiments. PCGS claims only a few hundred are in existence and there seems to be some demand for these.

Damage to a coin could reduce the value up to 90% of what it could have been. So it really lowers the value for these.

Yeah, the damage is unfortunate. I've seen lots of estimates on the mintage - the highest being 60,000, with maybe 1,000 still being in circulation... For those wondering, I've found a total of 424 1939 P nickels since I started my current run of CRH eight years ago.
