I was looking at shielded cents and noticed a line coming off of the corner where the banner and shield meet. I thought at first it was an error from a piece of the banner missing. That would make it a strike through I assume. But I got to looking at it through a 6x magnifier and it's not an indention, it's raised. That would tell me it was not there on the die. But that's not what I'm here for...my question is the thirteen stipes on the shield are to represent the thirteen colonies correct? Why is it that the second stripe from the left is part of the banner and not separated like the others are from the banner? I looked on many coins thinking maybe from polishing the die too much but they are all the same way that I have seen. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

@stran, any chance of you posting a clearer close-up pic? The current one is very pixelated. Thx. A raised line could be a die crack or a linear plating bubble, among other things.

Looking too hard for something that is not there that is collectable. If a coin has a variety, we should be able to see it clearly with 10X lens. To a buyer too minor is to minor. We don't seen to see molecules, just the die variety. Look at listings for that years coins and see what you should be looking at. Train your eye and then you will know what to look for and not be searching blindly. If you were going somewhere, how long would it take if it just went down any road. Check a map first, and then you will get there quicker. Same for coins. Know what to look for, before you search. Save your eyes.

image of the close up is far too close to determine anything from it. Then you post an image of the obverse, but not the reverse, which is what we need.

If it is raised, it 'could' be a small die crack, but can't tell.
