My friend Bill and I went to the South Shore Coin Club show in Milwaukee, WI this morning. It wasn't an overly big show, but there were some very nice coins to be seen, especially U.S. coins.

I came away with two purchases. The first was a 1941 Walking Liberty half dollar graded Proof 66 by PCGS. It has deep mirrors and an attractive crescent swirl of gold toning. My photos don't do the coin justice. A proof Walker has long been on my "want list".

The other was a 1907 Indian Head cent. The dealer had it graded "MS-63 Red". It looks to be a nice, original red coin.

It was my first coin show in a year, so it was nice to get out and have a bit of money in my pocket to spend.

For those keeping score: is the Proof Half without "AW" on the reverse?

It is the no "AW" variety. I was looking for the designer's initial's yesterday and couldn't find them. I just assumed they weren't struck with them, not that this is a variety for proof coins.

PCGS recognizes it as a Die Variety...just don't see any in their Population Report...?

Love the WLH. Speaks volumes to America and the pride there used to be.
