Looks like a coin scratch on the affected area on the reverse. Note on the top of the 'C' the folding over of the metal on that area. That is post strike damage. If it were a struck though wire issue, there would be no fold over on the coin. Just the trench:

The fields will show just an incuse area, with no fold over on the affected area:

Seems the marking on top of the devices draws attention away from your question. I'm intrigued by the lower notching, but yet still on the fence and need to research a bit more. Thanks, Doug.
