inherited a pretty vast coin collection and there is about 280 pre 1980 Kennedy half dollars. This is my first pick.

*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

Barbette41, excellent photos of the '64 JFK half!
I'm sorry that you acquired these coins via inheritance - very familiar with that experience.
Hopefully you've gone through them and pulled all of the silver ones. As for the rest, if they came from circulation it's not likely that you'll find a gem in amongst them. However, this is not an area in which I'm familiar with valuable varieties etc. A real expert will be along shortly to advise you.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Thank you so much. My area has always been just pennies, but these were collected over time and stored properly for many years. Going to a coin expo next week so I'm just trying to get prepared. The oldest half dollars I've found so far is a Barber half dollar and Barber dime. I'll post them in a different thread. The collection has easily over 10000 coins, including one that I have yet to date because from all the research I've done it's at least 400 years old. Haven't gotten a professional answer on it, that why I'm not counting it as the oldest yet. I also have older and newer forgein coins. I know my mom would want the world to see all the work she did for her whole life. I'll post other threads for grading.

I'll say AU-55, basically a bullion coin.
