Hi all. The T and R are raised and backwards. I'm guessing damage of some sort but the Raised T and R have me confused. I'd love your thoughts. Thank you!

I'm thinking a deliberate, partial 'vise job' done many years ago--backwards text is an indicator.

How would a vise reverse the letters?

Ok. I'm good with that explanation but how does a vise job get raised letters? Wouldn't they be incuse? Thanks again

The question to also ask is: what is going on at K9.5? a bezel? or was something added to create this and the backwards trust. Now there is also a 'U' that is incuse by raised TR in between the last 'T' of the normal trust

if you place 2 coins face to face to each other they would mirror each other. creating the backwards letters.

Someone went through a lot of trouble to satisfy a perverse need to create what is clearly a intentionally damaged coin. I'll never understand what rattles around inside the head of a troll and/or people who do this to a coin.

If raised along with the damage to the rim. Seems to be altered after strike.

Exactly how I can only speculate. Maybe a transfer using a hammer and a 2007 or 2008 Presidential dollar with edge lettering can produce something similar.

I was wondering more about the eye lid area. Do I see an extra one? Thanks, Doug.

Looks like that entire area has been messed with. Also note the rim above liberty is bent out some. Whatever?
