I've been following this thread a while attempting to learn as much as I can before posting, so I've had a few occasions to hit the Wexler and Variety Vista sites. Neither of those sites seem to get into the 1835 Capped Bust quarters I have shown here. Where can I research these? This coin seems to have a die break on both obv and rev; the obv at 8 oclock to the center, and another at 12 oclock almost fully to 4 oclock. Also - maybe in the upper 11 oclock position. The rev looks like 11 oclock to center, then from center to 9 oclock. TIA for any info. P.S is there a thread with hints on better lighting, angles, etc for taking photos?

Apologies I could not find an EDIT button to add this to the original, but using the computer and not my crappy camera I see the reverse die crack seems to go through to 6 oclock

These are categorized by Browning numbers. The first die marriage of the year is called B-1, the next is B-2, etc. I do not know the physical published references by name. You can use my strategy, go to PCGS price guide, click the variety dropdown by the coin's date, and click on each variety, comparing your coin to match the Browning number.
Lovely bisecting die crack on your coin. I have seen it before but do not know the die variety by memory.

NGC VarietyPlus is often useful too. Yours appears to be B-6. https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plu...1838/817013/You can also browse the Heritage archives (which can be tedious). I found an example fairly quickly by searching for "1835 25c die crack." https://coins.ha.com/itm/bust-quart...bnail-071515Their descriptions are very useful, stuff you can learn quickly without amassing a library: "Despite its Rarity-2 designation, the B-6 is surprisingly scarce, especially in better grades. It is among the most underrated die marriages of the series." You have a really nice example!

A bit more... Looking up B-6 I was confused by how many are designated but don't show any die cracks. Then I found one on Heritage that says "The conditionally scarce B-6 shows repunching on star 8 and the O in OF." So apparently the die cracks are not the primary pickup points for this die pair. Yours shows those two re-punches. Fun stuff. https://coins.ha.com/itm/bust-quart...bnail-071515
