I just purchased a 1922 Saint Gauadens $20 gold piece. The mint mark looks almost like an S over D. I would love some advise or direction.

That is not the mint mark it is the
Stylized ASG for Augustus Saint Gaudens.
Mint marked coins have the D or S above the date .

the letters below the date are the designers initials. You will find the MM above the date (if it has one at all)
