I'll try this again. As a newbie I'm still learning the ropes. I read through the doubled die / Machine Doubling posts and now I'm a bit more confused - complicated subject. This is the current question mark I have - just bought this coin. These are the only pictures I currently have.

Note "America" on obverse. Reverse appears to be missing parts of the "O" in One and "C" in cent. I think all the doubling is probably Machine Doubling, except the "E" in cent, as the doubled area seems to be a different shape. Sorry if these are stupid questions - trying to learn about this interesting subject.

@bla, first welcome to CCF. Second, glad to see that you've got these pictures posted. I agree that having a close-up of the letters will be helpful, but in the meanwhile, you should familiarize yourself with Longacre doubling, as this was quite prevalent on this series of coins. Here is a link to get you started on your research:

Agree that what we see here is Longacre's Doubling. However, this is a super common date for RPDs, so look closely at the date when you get it in hand.

Thanks, should have the coin in hand on Monday or Tuesday. Frankly, I bought it for the reverse and the apparently missing parts of the letters "C" and "O." I'll post pictures of that when it arrives.

Well, I got zeked. Coin showed up and looked nothing like the pictures. Everything I was seeing was an effect of how they lit the coin for their photos. Back it goes - oh well...
