Looks fake to me. There are casting bubbles all over this coin, the date doesn't look right and the O mintmark is not in the correct position.

The casting bubbles do seem very clear.

@tja, what does it weigh? Also, can you please add a picture of the edge? I'm interested to seam if there will be a seam visible.

I would concur with MisterT, along with all the mushy devices and date. The dentils are off considerable as well. Happy that you found it in a roll rather than to have been taken buying it.

Absolutely 100% fake. The reverse type didn't exist until 1901. Note the extra fold in the right ribbon end. Leaf veins also ID the 1901-1916 reverse.

Thanks I appreciate the advice I've never really looked into those before or know much about them. But I'm starting to collect other coins so they might be interesting to look into as well. Thanks again

Barber coins are fun to look into. http://www.barbercoins.org/ is a good resource, and the David Lawrence books are online there at http://www.barbercoins.org/Links.shtmlThe good thing about familiarizing yourself with the series is that you will instantly recognize counterfeits when they have the wrong obverse or reverse type for the year (as I did above). 1895-O dime is the most common Barber fake I've seen, and they almost always have the wrong obverse or reverse.
