This is a really cool one I thought I would share. This is a Judd-356b pattern, which is a thin copper-nickel planchet, not the typical thick ones seen in the CN series. It was struck using the same dies as the 1864 bronze S-16, which has concentric laithe lines on the obverse. I always wanted a S-16 1864 Indian cent, but as I started to focus on patterns, it took back seat. I was very pleased to find one as a pattern to check both boxes. I found this one at auction earlier this year. It is graded MS64 and as of today, it is Photosealed by Rick Snow. This is the first example he has seen with this die pair! I also sent him a Judd 404 (1865 in Copper Nickel) that is a new die pair and what I believe to be just the 5th fancy 5 J-404 known. There were a number of other patterns, errors and varieties he photosealed for me. Went 11 for 11 on the stickers today!

That is amazing! 11 for 11...you're Captain of the Indians' Baseball team...I mean the Guardians... Looking fwd to a montage of your stickered coins! Your attention to detail and knowledge of the series has me intrigued! WTG! smat

This is a really neat variety, and one I've yet to see other than in photos. One day though.

It's interesting that there are two of these on Heritage. One is MS67 and the other is PR66. Is it known that proof dies were also used for circulation strikes? It certainly appears to be the exact same die. Thanks for posting.
