@mrs, well this isn't the monster DDO as that is instantly recognizable. Of the handful of DDOs known for this date that aren't on proof coins, which one do you think you have? Here is a link to help you with your research:

It is certainly not DDO-001 which does not need a magnifier to see.

It would be helpful if you post full images of both side of each coin in question, in-focus, cropped and properly rotated. Then perhaps a detail or two photo of the specific areas. Then we could help.

Looks like a worn die issue to me. Need to work on taking a bit better quality photo.

Yes, I'm thinking Die Deterioration. I do see a cracked skull. What does the reverse look like? Reverses on '55s can have an interesting array of die chips and the occasional die crack.
