That's definitely a small Die Chip, on the reverse.

This variety of the Quarters if you look well has Die crack (Hub origins) on the border of the wing. this made the die to be weaker on those regions. Your is the first I see united the wing and the letter E. Forgot to say that your coin it is very clean, from set?

Aye, a die chip. There might be (might be...) a bit of early Die Deterioration going on with the reverse--E and R in AMERICA.
