Ive only found a hand full over the past few years and I am in TN.

I think I remember reading that they are more common on the west coast. Can anyone confirm that?

From my experience here in Florida. There are not many Lowell Ws but a ton of Samoa Bat Ws. I have 102 Ws I found over the last 11 months. I did get a box of 2019 War in The Pacific sealed from Bank of America about a month ago. Only opened 10 rolls and found 14 Ws. I don't count those in my 102 Ws I randomly found coin roll hunting. The key is that you have to hunt A LOT of boxes. I hunted over 200 boxes in 11 months for 98 of those. The first W I ever seen (the one that sparked the flame) was a 2019 War in the pacific I found in late 2020. The 2nd one I got was in my change from Wendy's in Clewiston Florida after fishing a tournament in 2022 on Lake Okeechobee. One my wife had in her purse change I was going through while at Top Golf (Samoa Bat) right before Christmas and I got one from change at a 7-11. The rest were all from an 11 month coin roll hunting binge that ended today when I found #100 101 and 102. My goal was 100 random finds. I have 116 confirmed and I am certain there are many more in those last 40 rolls of 2019 P War in The Pacific. I might hold them for a while or if I am having a bad day crack open a few to get that W quarter buzz. There is a feeling or high or something that comes when you see that W. Even in fed wrapped rolls. Here is today's 2 box best finds. 3 Ws a 1964 D and a 2018 S NIFC ATB.

1 W in a box is a good box. More than 1 is stellar!

I'm in southern California and have found 33 Ws to date doing moderate quarter searching (mostly the past seven months). The only one missing? Yes, that 2020 Samoa Bat W.

It's interesting to see the different results of others from across the country. I hunt quarters around Cincinnati, Ohio. In early 2022 I could find a W quarter every 0.87 boxes. Today, it's more like every 2 or 3 boxes, if that. My total average is one W quarter per 1.1 boxes, but that's quickly increasing.

As of right now I've found 335 Ws, and I've searched 371 boxes. My most common Ws are River of No Return (47), Samoa (50), Weir Farm (45) and Salt River Bay (66). My least common are War in the Pacific (13), American Memorial Park (18), Marsh-Billings (23) and Tallgrass Prairie (24).

If my average keeps dropping, I'll probably slow down my quarter searching and increase my dime searching. I search about five quarter boxes each week at the moment, usually a hodgepodge of CWR (often from laundromats), Brinks, and $1k bags deposited by vending machine companies.

Yes, they're out there, but not a common thing. Wonder how many are currently in the possession of collectors.

my San Antonio mission W was kind of what really kicked my collecting into overdrive. Before that I would just look for wheats and Indian heads. Now I go through all my coinage like someone looking for their next hit. lol

Yes, it is... I'm near L.A., but I'm likely going to be in the San Diego area tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to want to pick up some rolled coin while I'm there in hopes of finally getting my first 2020-W bat quarter... I've now found 37 Ws to date and this is the only one of the 10 from the 2 years that I'm missing.
