It's been heavily damaged. PSD. I am not entirely sure what you're trying to ask?

I'm trying to find out why this Wheat cent only weighs 2.6 g. I thought all wheat pennies except for the steel 1943 were supposed to weigh 3.1.

When I drop the coin and compare it to a different Wheat penny the sound that it makes is louder. It doesn't feel like a regular Wheat penny.

Because of the circulation. Soft material and been circulate, froth, loose material. I have Morgan's which loose 2.5 gr.

1909,1911-s, 1921-s and a few more years are know to exist and find fake. I do not think it is your case. Those are valuable coins.

PS: Drooping a cent do not tell you nothing. I bet for this. I do not know who come with this empiric, non-sense test. Also the Silver drooping do not say nothing. Each metal has resonances but very different at different purities of the main metal.

I'm assuming you are referring to it having a 4 and 3 on the back

Please I do not understand the 4 and 3. Me I see an 191 and probably another 1. The MM could be an D but IMHO it is S.

It lost some metal with the heavy wear, that's why it now weighs less.

The normal weight is 3.1 grams +/- .12 grams mint tolerance. Your coin is well worn and the reverse has major damage loosing some of the metal. It looks like the photos you posted are photos of a screen, best not to take pictures of a screen and post them.

Yes, heavy circulation wear has resulted in some loss of copper, thus reducing its weight. Over many decades of cent searching (bulk Wheat cent bags, etc.) I've come across a few thousand wheat cents just like this one--badly worn, thin, and light.

Every one of those scratches, pits, missing parts of the rim, and the apparent grinding of the reverse removes weight.
