The film "The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre" (1964) has a creepy old house haunted by 1964 United States coins including silver half dollars, quarters, dimes, also nickels and an Encased Cent.

In the 1993 drama Indecent Proposal (starring Robert Redford, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson), Redford's "lucky dollar" is a 1990 American Silver Eagle. It appears three times in the flick.

I watched it for the first time a couple of nights ago. I knew the basic plot, but didn't know how dark and heartbreaking it was.

A copper kaputnik from the 1979 Jack Frost. "It takes a hundred of them to make a penny!" Although copper is extremely scarce, this coin the size of the palm of a three fingered hand has a face value of $ 0.0001. It must cost the mint at least 50 cents to produce it. Of course, ice-money is in abundance, and it exchanges closer to $1.

A couple of evenings ago the BBC was showing some pop videos from the 1980s and one of them was 'Billie Jean' by Michael Jackson. At the start of the song he tosses a coin to a beggar. The video is on YouTube but I've found it hard to make out the actual coin - probably a Washington quarter...

Maybe someone's got it on DVD and can pause it in exactly the right place?

A scene from the 1967 television program "The Invaders" showing that even space aliens disguised as humans had to use pay telephones back then.
