Greetings, I came across a Jefferson nickel and honestly not sure about date as you'll see why and was wondering what is happening with this coin. Part of it looks like PMD but the date throws me off cause it looks like it was made this way. Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

oh and I know 1950D is a key date so it's probably not that, but one can hope.

Weight? Acid or heat damage, PMD. Looks like a 1960.

5 grams is normal so leaning towards heat damage.

I think that your first instruct of this being PMD was correct. Nice job!

Gereraly, acid takes away metal making it lighter in weight and heat damage does not remove metal so the weight will remain near normal.

Acid damage. If enough heat were applied to this or any other coin to ripple the surface, it would melt the whole coin. Along with turning the surface black.
