What would be the overall grade?

I am not sure what the reverse 1 o'clock black squiggly line is or how it by itself would affect the grade? I had some software glitch that prevented me from showing the left reverse side's rounded top and left sides. No damage exists under those areas.

There's either a bit of wear on the top two feathers of the headdress and diamonds on the ribbon or it's a weak strike. But it does have very nice Machine Doubling! Can you show us the reverse, mdpmedia?

I think it grades AU. Possibly cleaned because the color looks off

It fails to make 60 because of wear, not the cheek ding. I'll say AU-50.

I believe that's an RPD coin. There are several varieties of RPD on 1864s. Also very many with rotated reverse dies. This is the one I found - reverse die rotated about 20 degrees. I'm in the AU camp, but neat coin regardless. Also possible that it's weak strike because of lack of wear on reverse.

A nice RPD and I too am in the AU camp, I don't think the hit on the cheek affects the grade as much as other areas of light wear and possibly the color shifts showing some light handling.

Agree the coin is circulated - and that is the reason it does not make MS, not the cheek hit.
