Over & over, these great coins pop up on my watchlist, and often the same thing - "Dont' actually bid, email us and we'll sell it separate", clearly a hacked account.

But it's non-stop, why can't ebay ever stop this?

He's also selling two harpsichords, an 800 gram chunk of gold and a bulldozer among other things.

ebay has so many listings that they can't (and sometimes don't seem to want to) police their own site. This isn't allowed by ebay and should be reported and hopefully removed.

I did a 'Whois' on the domain and got the following information. The domain is about a week old. Sure looks like they are trying to hide something!

Link no longer works so it seems this auction has been removed.

Well, I'm upset that the Brooklyn Bridge I wanted for my backyard isn't for sale anymore. Seller states he sold it last week.

I encountered one of these types of ebay listings the other day, for an 1892-O Micro O Barber half dollar, graded G06 by PCGS. The seller would not allow bids, and you had to contact him/her directly to arrange the sale.

He/she was asking around $1,000 less than the PCGS guide. I reported the listing immediately, then went back later to see if it was still there. The message said that the listing had been removed because the item was 'no longer available' a.k.a. I got caught so I'm pulling it.

@justanothercoinaddict I've seen "no longer available" turn into the orange hoodie (completely removed) later. If you still have the link go look again. People should always post the seller ID on these things because no one can find it after the listing is removed.

It's not the seller's fault though, it's always some fine established seller with great history. They get hacked and the scammers post a million items for sale under their ID with "don't bid, email us to pay". Once they (or ebay) figures it out, the listings all come down, and the seller hopefully can get back to business and salvage their reputation.

The mystery to me is how often this happens, how they can upload thousands of items so quickly, and how ebay simply cannot/will not prevent it from happening, over and over again.

I only thought it would help us see whether the seller got banned or just all the bogus listings. Maybe it's not worth it. ebay is asleep at the wheel on this stuff. My PayPal got hacked years ago (somebody gave themselves a bogus direct payment from me) and it could only have been via ebay, because I never used PayPal anywhere else. It does make me curious if this scam works. I suppose it must since they keep doing it.

You have to remember the cost to send a spam email, post a bogus listing, etc. is very very low. You only need a few "successful" sales to make it worthwhile.

Here we go again, quality seller w/ 4000+ sales and >99% positive, hacked by these monsters. 27000 items for sale, here's one -

Here's what it looks like, for when it inevitably gets pulled down -
