Strange Mark On 1928 Series E Five Dollar Red Seal Bill

I have this red seal bill with a horizontal mark on the obverse side just above the word "UNITED". It looks like a staple but it isn't; it's just a mark. The bill feels real, but I'm wondering why the mark is there. Below are the pictures of the mark, the area on the reverse where the mark would be, and the obverse and reverse of the entire bill.

That's a centering mark, not ususual.

it's a printers alignment mark. (At least that's we called it back in the old days). It made it easier to see where you needed to make your cut when separating sheets with multiple images of the same thing. Pretty much everything now is done on, and by, the computer and very little is done by hand. That's "progress"!
