1969-S-Cent-I-Bought-At-A-Local-Coin-Shop

I recently bought this coin at a coin dealer near Rogers Arkansas. I have posted it here seeking knowledge from the Members of the community as to whether or not this is an example of Doubling. I have only been collecting for less than a year so I do not have the experience that I seek from within this group. If I had to guess there is about 1000 years of collecting experience collectively. Thank you for looking and if I have made a posting error due to inexperience I apologize in advance. Thank you and I know you are going to find what ever you are searching for.

@hors, first welcome to CCF. Second, since it isn't obvious to me from your overall pictures, can you please add a close-up image of the doubling that you are seeing with the coin in hand? Thx.

The '69 S is known for machine doubling--in that they aren't uncommon. Can't tell what's going on given the posted pics.

That reverse kinda looks like a proof.('squared' rim).

Thank you for looking. I will need to upload other pictures when I get home. These are the photos that were on My iPhone. Would you guys suggest that I remove the coin from the holder? One more question, are the pictures not showing up well on your screens ie...is it the size, quality or something else regarding the images? Thank you again.

to the CCF defiantly not the big one. Maybe 002 or 003, but we need to see a up close and in focus pic of the date.

very good photos for a first timer, photo dimensions are fine, reverse image could be sharper, out of holder views ares best if the holder is not significant, but avoid touching the coin surfaces or you'll leave fingerprints

Okay, totally impressed with the quick and polite replies. I will definitely post more pictures tonight. I bought the coin for 11$ because I thought it was in decent condition and the Shop Owner bought a few coins from Me that I brought in for what I felt was a fair price based on His demeanor and openness about what He could possibly get for them. I left there with 14$ and this coin. Would it be appropriate for Me to post another coin for the CC to comment on in the mean time?

a fairly normal looking cent going by the images provided so far. (good photos too) but try to get pictures of the coins without the 2x2 - it can create glare and focus issues.

I do not have a loupe. I currently have to place My phone on a tissue box to hold it still and place a coin below it. Right now that's what I am working with.

I mean one just for your eye. Then you can compare your coins to verified examples of what you're looking for. I recommend 10x magnification and not spending much - an inexpensive jeweler's loupe is good. I just picked up a couple on Amazon recently for about $7 apiece.

Sure just please open up a new thread for each new coin so that we can give them all the appropriate level of attention. Thx.
