I got this quarter and it's graded PF 69 ultra cameo by NGC.

My first problem is that it does not look ultra cameo. My second problem is that the NGC verification tool shows the reverse image of a Peace dollar rather than a Washington quarter. I emailed NGC about the discrepancy with the image but they have yet to reply. I was wondering if any of the experts on this forum could provide any insight.

Coin looks fine to me and appears to be accurately graded to these old eyes of mine.

The Peace dollar reverse photo is obviously a mistake.

I do not see anything that immediately jumps out as being inauthentic with your holder.

I believe the problem with the NGC images is just an error on their end.

Looks real to me. NGC made an error on their end as jbuck said.

The barcode scans correctly, if that helps. Most of the fake slabs/labels don't bother with a correct barcode.

Hello —

I'm not an expert.

But I know how I've felt when I've received a coin that I had uncertainty about.

When I've gotten an NGC-graded coin in the past and wanted to feel a bit more confident in it, I would check to see if the coin had an NGC image available online.

I'm personally convinced that the obverse of the holder you picture is the same as shown in the NGC-published image for the following reasons. This is just my opinion as a layperson who has purchased some coins in the past.

There is a chip or some kind of speck at the lower right obverse of the holder. I am showing it here first on the NGC image, then the image you provided. I added some black markings to identify the dark spot and to give an approximate spatial reference in relation to the plastic finger holding the coin —

About the coin, I notice a light-colored dot between the I and B in LIBERTY that seem to match when I compare the pictures —

Other items I have used in the past to compare an in-hand coin/holder to an NGC-published picture include shreds of paper that I think were left over from the label-cutting process trapped in the holder (same shape, location, color to my eye), and distinctive spots where the gasket (soft interior part of the holder) presses up against the holder casing in what I consider to be an identifiable way.

I have never done such a comparison without the coin and holder actually in my hands. I feel far less confident comparing two pictures rather than a picture to a physical holder/coin.

This is just my opinion of course, and like I said, I'm not an expert.

Sick puppy — I just noticed that the reverse image has been updated by NGC so that it no longer shows a Peace dollar:
