I posted this as a raw coin about 2 years ago. The general consensus was MS 64 PL and I agreed. Two years later I finally submitted it to ANACS. After conservation they didn't agree. ANACS has a rep of over-grading but I'm not so sure about this one. Thoughts/opinions?
63pl. Unfortunate that all the hits appear on the cheek and the field on front of the face which are the focal points. Everywhere else it looks pristine. What was the reason for the conservation?

Can't guess what ANACs said -- maybe 65PL? -- but numismatic student's take seems right to me. The OBV on its own barely makes 62PL (or 62DMPL -- can never really tell from photos), but that reverse is way up in 66PL territory. Normally that would net out to at least 64, but the obverse hits degrade eye appeal. I'd guess 63PL
Think they're doing their best to rid themselves of the over grading rep and might be compensating too much. Saw a dealer on a recent Youtube video who had 4 out of 5 ANACS coins upgraded when submitted to PCGS
