To me, G-04. To PCGS, I'm sure at least VG-08.

G-4 obverse but the feather detail on the reverse gives it somewhat of a bump. Obverse G-4, Reverse F-12, net grade VG-8. A tough coin in any condition! Congrats!

I think it is a solid G-06 with a shot at VG-08. Normally we see more obverse rim bordering in VG, so that may hold it back, but the reverse is up in F-12 territory. A nice tough-date coin in any case, with a haunting appearance.

i have the reverse at VG10 and obv G4. net it at VG8

VG-08 I think but I wouldn't be shocked if PCGS gave it VG-10. Often a pre-1925 SLQ with this much overall wear would have the date completely obliterated but this one is a happy exception. Very decent example for a circulated set!

Just can't get used to a coin with only 1 clear number in the date grading VG.

Thank you, everyone! PCGS graded this one VG-10. Consensus seems to be that's a little over-graded, but I'm still very happy to find a problem-free, readable key date.

looks like they weighted the reverse a little more to pull it up to a 10

In my opinion, a VG-10 is quite fair for a nice example of this key date... I understand coinfrog on only one clear digit showing, but to me, the slq's 1916-1924 along with Buffalo nickels of 1913-1929 are the exceptions rather than the rule when it comes to date preservation since we all know the dates were on a pedestal therefore wore quickly. So one could have a legit F-12+ graded one of these coins and the date could be almost obliterated on both denominations... My 1921 slq nets a barely VG-8 and the date only has the last 1 visible...

I understand that these two series are treaated as exceptions by the community as a whole. I just meant that I personally wouldn't be interested in a VG coin as such.
