@24karat,

Unfortunately, I am not sure, does not look like it to me. Though I am still learning the varieties myself.
You should always post full obverse and reverse pics with the close up pics as well:). It is late or early depending, so I would work on getting those pics asap.
I'd bet in a few hours many more knowledgeable members on the doubled die varieties will be around to help you .

@24k, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please clarify if both of these images are from the same cent? I'd like to make the thread title more descriptive, but need this information in order to do that. Thx.

24karat,
to CCF. You will need to post better photos for us to really help you. There is way too much glare,so you need to filter your light.At this point,it looks like DDD and light induced doubling to me.

To CCF! I am not seeing a Doubled Die. Maybe Die Deterioration Doubling and light induce doubling, like John1 said.

Yes, better pics would help to identify the cause, but it certainly does appear to have doubling of some type(s). The problem I see is that the date appears to have MDD, with second "strike" causing damage to the East, but the mintmark is showing doubling to the NW. The "9" may also be showing the same doubling to the NW. A very interesting coin.
