The area of the coin that is normal has a full rim. This means that it was struck in the retaining collar. The area that is damaged has lots of metal movement that couldn't have happened when it was struck. It's an interesting coin, but not worth a premium over the face value. If you like it, keep it (I think I would) or exchange it at the bank for a newer nickel. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T!
