1945 Lincoln Cent. Could It Be? - Coin Community Forum

TntChick New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 09/13/2023 04:01 am Under the coin microscope this appears to be a 1945 Lincoln Cent. I was told that this was damage after the coin was made and put into circulation, but humor me here for a second. Could this coin have been struck with a Mercury dime die? I ask because looking closely I saw something and overlaid an image of a Mercury dime over this coin and it seemed to match up...or am I just way off here? Report this Post to the Staff

lcutler Pillar of the Community United States 1657 Posts	Posted 09/13/2023 04:22 am From the pictures, all I see is a badly worn, corroded, damaged cent. Often, random damage can be mistaken for all kinds of anomalies, sort of like seeing images in clouds. You can post better, close up pictures of what you are seeing, but don't get your hopes up!
