Ran across a 4-year old post showing some Balboas. Here's what I have. Lord only knows how Dad acquired them!

The 1961 (lower left) is an uncirculated coin. Don't have a clue about the other three. Their pretty nice coins, though. The 2 large ones are silver. Anyone know the composition of the other two?

Gotta love that helmet!

@mike, it would help to have diameters and weights for these four coins so that we can separate out the Balboas from the fractional pieces. Please add that info to this thread. Thx.

Also, I recommend you looking on numista as this is my go-to website for composition questions. Here is a link to get you started:

I can measure diameter but have no scale. Looks like I have an excuse to buy one now. Got any recommendation?

At the time, the Panamanian balboa was circulating on par to the US dollar; Panamanian coins were struck in the US, to whatever the current specifications for US coins were. So, the 1966 quarter is clad, the dime and two halves are silver.

Good info (as always) from @sap. You should get a scale that will read to the nearest 0.01 g.

@Mike31093, silver Panamanian coins have the weight and fineness on them. This is quite common for central and South American silver coins.
