I don't own this one either but was for sale today. Thoughts? Thanks!

Fabulous example. I say XF range.

What's happening on the reverse K3-K9?

Looks like there are a few rim bumps. Hard to predict which way graders go on a coin like this.

Solid XF40; I think the hair is a bit weak for 45, but on the other hand, chain cents are graded more leniently by the TPG's than any other United States coin in my experience.

Rim bump reverse at K5 and a much smaller one on the obverse at K2-K3, a dig on the obverse at K7; a little roughness above the date that will not affect anything in terms of grade or value.

Nevertheless, this is a beautiful example of the variety, and would be a "banner coin" for almost any collector. I'd love to have one like this but would need to win the lottery first; an attractive S-3 in XF was already a $40k coin 15 years ago and is probably a $65k+ coin now.

Strong money for a VF30; the buyer got a nice coin that is conservatively graded and has good eye appeal, so it looks like the buyers voted with their wallets instead of relying on NGC's opinion.

I'm betting they netted the grade on this coin as its better than VF30 due to the rim issues
