Hello everyone,

Picked this 86 o up today along with a 87 o and a 22 PD.

Does the O mint mark look oddly placed? It may be the toning bit it feels closer to the lower wreath than it should...

Also, grading thoughts would be appreciated!

Looks XF40. MM looks normally placed to my untrained eyes. The MMs did move around as they were punched by hand at the branch mints.

Nice find. This date is a bit better than you might expect. A textbook "conditional rarity".

Circulated mid-grade pieces (above VF-25) command a small premium over other common date morgans. Once you get into AU and MS grades, the prices for an 86-O are kinda ridiculous.

I don't see anything unusual about the MM placement. If you look through PCGS gallery, most of them are closer to the wreath than DO. Perhaps the dark toning above the MM is throwing off your perception of how close it is.

i found some MM that appears like this one. I think the grime between the MM and the lower part of the bow is making it look higher than it actually is as stated by kbbpll

keep in mind, even though the coin is circulated, that the 86(O) strikes we pretty soft. obv looks XF45. reverse XF40. obv may be strong enough to call it XF45
