I am new to collecting (about 45 days) and I found several coins that I think might be good. The first is a 1943D Bold Double Mintmark. Would this coin be worth grading, and how much does it cost for a newcomer? I am reading posts and gathering as much information as I can remember. Any suggestions that anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Next find/post is regarding a 1955 Double Die Reverse I think

Need a close up. Looks like maybe a re-plated coin. Does not look like an RPM to me so far.

Pictures are poor, but looks like possible Die Deterioration Doubling on the MM and definitely a refinished coin. No added value, and the replating hurts the small value it would have had as a steel cent.

@5toy, first welcome to CCF. Second, here is a link to the 22 known RPMs for this year/mint so that you can compare them against your coin.

We seem to see that when steel cents have been replated, it often brings out a shadowing of doubled mintmark.

Also, when you open a new thread to post another coin, please use pictures with the coin not in a 2x2. That helps us to see the details more clearly. Thx.

To CCF! Your coin shows Die Deterioration Doubling and has been replated.

I agree: DDD and replated.

to the CCF Looks like a nice unc too me. Can't tell with these pictures if it's an RPM. If the surface looks like a mirror then it's plated. If it has a "dull" shiny surface then it's not plated.
