Hi,
It is definitely a doubled die. Based upon the image, it could be a TDO (tripled die obverse)Believe it or not, they are fairly common on the 90% and 40% silver issues of
Kennedy halves. There are several die varieties known for the date you are showing.
To send it off for attribution is unfortunately useless as most grading companies are not familiar enough with these to attribute them correctly.
Also, the cost of slabbing and attribution would far outweigh the value of the coin. Most
Kennedy half die varieties sell in the $20.00 or less area and can easily be cherrypicked at shows or even occasionally from rolls.
It is still a nice find but it is not one that you want to spend a lot of money on to attribute. Mark it as a
DDO or TDO ,as the case may be and use it as an example of what to look for on Kennedys.
Have Fun,
Bill
PS: Turn the coin over and take a close look at the points of the stars and the rays as some of these will exhibit doubled star points and rays and in fact are DDRs as well.
