I found this coin with specific letters and numbers engraved on it just wondering if you would be able to tell me if it means anything ?

Or point me in direction to someone who does?

Somebody had a set of letter punches and did this. These sets are easily available on ebay. Only the person who did it knows what it means, if it is anything at all. It is now just a damaged coin.

, glad you can ask us!

This is an Ireland coin as you said, one of the euros, with a bunch of post mint stamps that someone was playing with...

The stamps are too precisely aligned to be just random punching - whoever put he punches there, intended those specific letters in those places. I'm not entirely sure what "28&CA6Z VN" means, but it meant something to whoever put it there.

Irish coins have long been the targets of vandalism by Northern Irish Unionist extremists (and yes, Irish Republicanist extremists do the same to British coins). If I had to guess, this would be my guess as to the origins of the stamping.

Whether or not the meaning is ascertained, to a coin collector, the coin is "just a vandalized coin", of minimal interest. It is European Central Bank policy that mutilated coins are "unfit for circulation" and to be withdrawn and destroyed through the local Central Banks in each country.

Here's an example of a loyalist defaced one which was apparently done in Harland and Wolf shipyard. The republican ones were done somewhere in west Belfast - but I'm not sure where. Back in the 70's and 80's it was possible to pull them from change all the time.
