First off let me apologize for the horrible photos. I can't hook my scope up to my laptop atm but will post better pics asap.

I went back and forth on this for a week, bc the initials are barely visible I thought not, but have come to the conclusion that this is the 1909 vdb matte proof coin. Yes it's a poor example but I think we can all agree that it's rare nonetheless. I've found every die marker listed from the crack on the back from the "T,Y" to his back. I found the crack running from R to U in trust, the die scratches at the nose, the upside down U raised mark to the right of UNUM, the other few and even the scratch from the dot after the D to the B in the initials. The coin stands on its thicker rim with ease. I also compared it side by side to another 1909.
Could anyone tell me what a beat up example is worth?

Nothing in the photos leads me to believe that this is a proof coin.

Agree, nothing suggests a proof coin. Even if so worth little in this condition. Clear your head, give it up.

It does not appear to be a proof, or even an impaired proof given these images. Closeups of the 'markers' is imperative here.

Unlikely that this is an impaired proof, or even a VDB for that matter. High quality close up photos of the markers will be necessary, or in hand examination under a loupe by an expert. But don't get your hopes up.

I don't see any of the diagnostics you mention in the photos you provided.
