Hi to all I have seen on Utube so many different valuations and sales of these coins. I do understand that condition counts. These are in very good condition with no rubbing and scratches. My question is are these that valuable as they say...300-400,000 ? Sounds ridiculous to me. Thanks for looking.

I don't know what some of the posters on youtube are smoking, but these are very ordinary coins, still common in circulation in the UK. I doubt you would get anyone here to give you more than face value for them. Sorry!

It's a con based on the fact that these coins switched from 'New Pence' on the reverse to 'Two Pence' in 1982. There are some 'error' coins from 1983 that say 'New Pence' instead of 'Two Pence'. They might be worth a few hundred pounds or so. (Americans are much more taken with errors than British people). All others are worth 2p.
There are people who hope to trick naive buyers into thinking they're getting a rarity by confusing them with a normal 'New Pence' coin. Many people have heard the story but don't remember all of it, so believe the seller. Still, you'd have to be insane to buy one without checking.
There are similar tricks with sellers claiming their one or two pound coin has the writing on the edge 'upside down'. In fact, the official issues come with it either way up, so these 'error' coins are just normal coins.

Thank you to all and the links provided. As I thought it has to be total madness at 300-400,00 for this type of coin. I am still learning and purchased a whole load of English coins...pennies 1900 +++ and from what I have gathered silver coins back to 1940/60s. The pennies came out of this batch....so I was surprised...not that I believe everything on UTUBE Once again many many thanks
