Just a small show at the Ramada in Fargo, ND on 11/18. One of the LCS guys said ANACS may be there.

Are you an ANA member? If so, you can submit to NGC directly.

Yes, ANACS website says they will be there on 11/18. https://anacs.com/shows/ Looks like it would cost you $20 for grading and $40 for return shipping on an up to $2k value coin. What I liked about doing a show submission is you eliminate having to ship and insure it to them first. Once it's in their hands, it's their responsibility, and you get to physically hand it to them at a show. I'm not sure why others here are so adamant about pushing you away from ANACS. In my experience their customer service was great and turnaround was pretty fast. If anything, their grading was a tad stricter than I would have given a few of my 16 coin submission. I wouldn't pay for their imaging again though. Let's see if someone on here wants to quantify how much more you would get for this coin if it was in a PCGS slab instead of ANACS, and then you can decide if it's worth the extra cost and hoops you'd have to jump through instead of taking it to the show.

Choose your poison. It's an important coin and belongs in a major TPG holder. Just offering my best advice. It will not sell at full value in an ANACS holder according to all records. Bidders too often buy the slab rather than the coin, and an ANACS holder gets discounted from the start.

I joined NGC and will send the coin in for their express service. I'll follow-up here with what grade it gets from them. Nothing against ANACS. I just didn't want to wait a month for the show.

this is nice 21D. I'm not going to call authenticity as it looks good to me. for me it would be worth it to send to PCGS. even with the low end subscription (i think its $69) plus shipping and ins both ways, if the coin comes back in the VF range it would be worth it. I think its mid VF. i'd call if VF25 and even 30 is not out of the question. I don't see anything that would details the coin either. if you send it in please repost it. personally I would only go with PCGS or NGC for this one.

I view it as a VF-20. What an incredible find for $10!

I see it as a 25-30. Kbbpll has a point, though. That mint mark does look odd, and the dark circle around it looks a little suspect, too. Do you have something to get a really close look at it, like a microscope?

A lock VF-20. May need a couple more submissions for the willing participant.
The price gap between 15 and 20 is $300-$400. But you already scored a big chunk of change for a $10 cost at F-15. Would be an easy sell.

I think the graders have a Graysheet handy to look at in the grading room and coins with huge spreads in pricing between fine/VF and VF/XF will get scrutinized more closely. I think this coin falls into that category.
I think it's closer to VF. Nice coin for 10$ no matter the grade!
