When I took a tour of the Winnipeg Mint in June they were most definitely minting 2022-dated coins. I don't believe there are any special markings on them to distinguish them from the ones actually minted in 2022.

The new effigy was authorized by an order-in-council last week (the designer is Steven Rosati), so hopefully there will be movement soon.

WINNIPEG, MB, Nov. 10, 2023 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mint is holding an event to unveil the effigy His Majesty King Charles III that will appear on the obverse of all Canadian coins and strike the first circulation coin bearing this new image. This ceremony will take place at the Mint's Winnipeg manufacturing facility on November 14, 2023.
Perhaps the coin/s will be available for purchase before the new year.

Do you think it's likely coin sets with the new effigy will be available for purchase on Nov 14? I think I'll be standing by the doors before the Mint Boutique opens to see if I could be the first to get my hands on one!

I think I found the answer to my own question. It sounds like they are striking the first circulation coin on Nov 14.
