This lot is in a local auction.

Is it a genuine USA 1858O half dollar?

The weight is correct and it's not magnetic but as there are often fake coins in this auction, I'm wondering if this genuine.

Hard to tell from the pictures, unfortunately.

The disparity in sharpness between the obverse and reverse is not reassuring, though.

The mint mark looks wrong, but it may be the lighting in your photo.

"there are often fake coins in this auction" - I would certainly be wary. What are those lines going the wrong way in the obverse shield? Date and MM look fishy. But with these images who knows. (I messed with the color etc a bit in Picasa)
